Embossed metal tags and nameplates are part of the many products and services we offer for identification and safety needs. Custom embossed metal tags, nameplates, and labels from Big City Manufacturing go through a process where heat and pressure are put on the metal tag to produce raised or sunken text or designs on the tag. Tags and nameplates can be embossed in aluminum, brass, and stainless steel.
Benefits & Applications of Embossing
Embossed Metal Tags & Name plates are unique because text is raised, embossed metal tags and plates are a choice turned to or often required for Leak Detection (LDAR) and Fugitive Emission Inspections, meter and equipment identification and inventory use in manufacturing and production industries. Embossed tags and plates have an advantage when subjected to powder coatings or painting because the raised text will remain legible and will not fill in as recessed text can.
Additionally, because text and designs are raised on embossed tags, these tags are an ideal choice in harsh conditions where they may have rough handling in industrial type applications.

Embossed text has the appearance similar to text which is raised on a typical credit card. Letters are uppercase and block style for quick and legible reading. Our embossing equipment produces 3/16” high numbers, uppercase letters, and punctuation symbols.
Materials for Embossed Tags
Our Embossing Production & Custom Capabilities
Embossing is part of the daily menu at our production facility located in Houston, Texas. Our warehouse always keeps a healthy quantity of stock tags in most commonly used sizes which are compatible to the embossing process in size and thickness ( most being 26 gauge or .015). Stock sizes ensure a prompt production time.
Working from your tag data list, spreadsheet, or drawings, we are able to make sequential numerical or alphabetical tags. We do produce custom-sized tags and nameplates with embossed data in addition to stock sizes.
Our equipment will emboss up to 8 lines of text with each line holding up to 28 characters. Tags and plates up to 2 ½” inches high and 4” wide can be embossed. Tag and plate materials are typically .015 to .024in thickness so as to be compatible with the embossing process.
We can typically complete orders in 3 to 5 work days depending on the quantity of tags being embossed. We offer expedited service when an application, inspection, or export requires embossed tags as quickly as possible.
